Care for your Jewelry
Your new jewelry will give you many years of wear and my hope is that you will pass it to the next generation. Treat it as you would any other fine jewelry. Handle with care, especially in the case of precious metals (sterling silver and gold filled) which are much softer than base metals. The softness also means that precious metals are much easier to scratch, so take care.
Never wear it while swimming or bathing, strenuously exercising or gardening. Wearing it during leisure time is highly recommended.
Always put your jewelry on last - after make-up and spraying perfume. Try to avoid perfuming the area where your jewelry will be in contact with your skin.
To prolong the life of your jewelry always wipe it with a soft cloth to remove any perspiration or oils after wear.
Always store jewelry in a clean and dry place, away from sunlight. Sterling silver pieces will need to be kept in an airtight plastic bag to avoid tarnish. Store pearls in cotton wool, soft cloth or a jewelry roll, not plastic.
To clean tarnished items use a silver cleaning cloth or bi-carbonate of soda solution. Steer clear of harsh, abrasive cleaners as they may damage the other beads in the item.
